Insider info
Li Jingliang favored — picked against Tony Ferguson clear UFC 279 · September 7, 2022
He names Li Jingliang the betting favorite and his official pick, while still crediting Ferguson with a couple of realistic but unlikely paths to an upset.
Tony Ferguson has fought the highest level of competition lightweight has to offer and still carries dangerous jiu-jitsu and cutting elbows that give him a real, if narrow, chance here. But he's dropped four straight, most recently a damaging knockout loss, and he's now moving up in weight against a bigger, faster opponent — not an ideal spot to turn things around. The analyst credits him with live paths to a cut stoppage or submission, but doesn't expect either to materialize.
