The short version. No accounts. No cookies. No third-party trackers, ad networks, font CDNs or embedded widgets — every asset on this site is served from bout-scout.com. Your IP address is never stored. The only personal information we ever hold is an email address you deliberately give us, and you can remove it in one click, forever, without asking us.
This policy describes what bout-scout.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is short because the site genuinely does very little.
1. Visiting the site
We count page views so we know which pages are worth maintaining. This is done on our own server, and it is deliberately built so that it cannot identify you:
- No cookie is set and no identifier is stored on your device.
- Your IP address is never written to disk. It is combined in memory with your browser's user-agent string and a rotating secret, hashed, and only a short one-way hash is kept. The secret changes daily, so the same visitor on two different days cannot be linked, and the hash cannot be reversed back to an IP address by us or by anyone who obtained the database.
- What is recorded is: the page path, the date, the referring site's domain (not the full URL), and a coarse device type.
- Requests identified as bots and requests to APIs and admin paths are discarded rather than counted.
Our web server and our hosting provider keep short-lived operational logs, as every web server does, for security and debugging.
2. The fight-alert email list
If you enter your email address to be told when new picks are published, then and only then do we hold personal information about you.
- What we store: your email address, the date you signed up, which page you signed up from, and your confirmation and unsubscribe tokens. Nothing else. We do not ask for your name and we do not profile you.
- Double opt-in. Submitting the form does not subscribe you. We send one email asking you to confirm, and if you do not confirm, the address is never mailed again.
- Purpose: to email you when picks for a new card are published. That is the only thing the list is used for.
- Unsubscribe: every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link that works immediately and permanently, with no login and no reply required. You can also write to hello@bout-scout.com.
- We never sell, rent, share or trade the list, and we do not send third-party advertising to it.
3. Where it is held, and for how long
Data is held in a database on a single server in the United States, operated by our hosting provider on our behalf. Analytics records are aggregate and retained indefinitely in that aggregate form. Email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them; unconfirmed addresses are of no use to us and are removed.
4. Your rights
Wherever you live, you may ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to hello@bout-scout.com. Because the only identifier we hold is your email address, a request from that address is how we will identify you. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are in the UK or the EEA, our lawful basis for the mailing list is your consent, which you may withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link; our basis for aggregate, non-identifying page counts is our legitimate interest in knowing whether the site is used. If you are in California, note that we do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA, and we do not offer financial incentives for it.
5. Children
This site is intended for adults of legal gambling age and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us an email address, write to hello@bout-scout.com and we will delete it.
6. Links out
Pages link to sportsbooks, Wikipedia, and data sources. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's site under someone else's policy, and we have no control over what they collect.
7. Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of the page. If a change ever means we collect something new, we will say so plainly rather than quietly widening this text.
