Alex Morono

The analyst thinks Morono could still steal a decision by boxing from range, but expects his durability questions and shaky takedown defense to catch up with him against a hot-streak opponent.

Morono remains a legitimately good boxer with plenty of volume, clean combinations, and a leg kick he leans on, plus the footwork to circle away from danger -- enough that a clean kickboxing-style fight could see him win rounds on the cards. Questions have crept in about his chin after several knockout losses, even though he's still considered a hard out for most people. On the mat he's a live threat with good scrambles and a knack for jumping into submissions, but his takedown defense is inconsistent and he's shown a habit of pulling guard and hunting for a guillotine, a low-percentage look against opponents who have learned to defend it.
