Insider info
Jacob Malkoun favored — picked against Gerald Meerschaert lean UFC Fight Night: Della Maddalena vs Prates · April 26, 2026
strikingdecent
grapplingsolid
Picked against, though the analyst gives real, explicit credit to his track record of snatching a finish from what looks like a losing position.
An okay striker who gets some mileage out of his jab thanks to good reach, plus basic boxing combinations, though the striking overall isn't a strong suit even with the length factored in. His grappling is where fights actually get won -- give him any window on the ground and he's capable of pulling a finish seemingly from nothing, a pattern that's defined his career of turning fights around late. His submission repertoire is deep and wide-ranging, he stays active off his back, and he jumps on openings the moment they appear -- content to fight from underneath and absorb real damage while he works, because he remains a live threat no matter how far behind he appears to be.
Strengthwide array of submissions, always hunting and always active off his back
Strengtha career built on pulling finishes out of seemingly lost positions
Weaknesshis hands are the weaker part of his game, even with the reach helping
