Rongzhu favored — picked against Victor Martinez lean Road to UFC Day 1 · May 24, 2026
strikinggood grapplingdecent

Picked against, despite the analyst liking his mixed-in takedowns as a real tactical tool against a pure striker.

A boxing-heavy striker with sharp combinations, respectable power, solid output, and hands that come quickly. His real shortcoming is failing to blend his tools -- he's either purely boxing or firing an isolated leg kick, never really combining the two, and his guard rates as merely acceptable rather than genuinely good. His grappling is passable, and he notably weaves in takedown attempts specifically to change the rhythm against a pure striker -- more of a tactical wrinkle than a real strength, aimed at opening punching lanes even when the takedown itself doesn't land. He's also capable in scrambles.

Strengthsharp combinations, quick hands, solid output
Strengthweaves in takedown attempts as a deliberate change of pace to open punching lanes
Weaknessnever really blends boxing with kicking, stuck in one mode or the other
Weaknessguard rates as merely acceptable
