The analyst favors the younger wrestler clearly, viewing Tome as a live but fading veteran on the back end of his career.

Tome is a well-worn veteran with a huge overall win total and a fighting style that once gave a ranked UFC opponent real problems. His calling card is refusing to accept bad positions — he's constantly moving his hips, attacking with elbows and submissions off his back, and is notoriously hard to hold down even for skilled control-oriented opponents. His striking is unorthodox and spin-heavy, which has worked for him but comes at the cost of takedown defense he doesn't seem concerned about anyway. The issue is that his overall sharpness and activity have clearly declined as he's aged into his 40s, and against a younger, hungrier, well-rounded opponent, that decline is expected to show.
