Insider info
Nasrat Haqparast favored — picked against John Makdessi lean UFC Paris · August 29, 2022
He calls it the slightest sliver of confidence, noting he's flip-flopped on this pick multiple times already and could easily change again before fight night.
At 37, Makdessi is still finding ways to out-point younger, hyped-up opposition, most recently in a split-decision win the analyst treats as a genuinely good sign for where he's at. His veteran craft lets him dictate pace and control the terms of a fight even while giving up a reach disadvantage here. He's given a real live chance to spoil the slight-favorite tag on his opponent, including a note that he could simply end the fight early.
Strengthcrafty, veteran striking IQ that dictates pace
Strengthstill turning back younger prospects at 37
Weaknessgives up a reach disadvantage in this matchup
